Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Performs technical duties and activities within prescribed time frames. Participates in projects to improve overall process and technical efficiency

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide problem solving support to production operations and for plant equipment
  • Manage your area's process performance improvement, recipe management and projects
  • Interface with operators, team leaders and peers to develop and implement process, equipment or safety improvements
  • Work with engineering to develop equipment specifications/requirements and organize meetings to review proposals and quotes prior to purchasing
  • Develop maintenance and operator training and troubleshooting documentation
  • Troubleshoot and address mechanical issues
  • Assist in the commissioning and qualification of equipment
  • Contribute to the development and execution of product qualification plans
  • Support master trainers with the training on new equipment
  • Document process procedures
  • Support the transfer of new cabling technology, materials or processes from development to production
  • Provide processing support during product development, develop plans as to how the equipment/processes will be employed into production and ensure that the new technology is repeatable in production environment
  • Ensure all production and maintenance documentation is completed
  • Work with and train other support personnel to improve troubleshooting skills

  • Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
  • Information 24/7 coverage for ad-hoc call in support in required

Experiences/Education - Required

  • 2 year technical degree OR 1 year in a manufacturing environment
  • Creative/innovative problem solving
  • Strong technical/mechanical understanding
  • Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions
  • Results oriented and high commitment
  • The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
  • Excel knowledge

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • 2+ years manufacturing environment experience preferred
  • Knowledge of plastic extrusion/UV processing technologies
  • Cabling process and equipment
  • Design software knowledge
  • Data analysis skills
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, and rulers)
  • Controls knowledge and troubleshooting ability

The range for this position is $58,207.00 - $80,035.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
